In 2nd grade, HFCA students learn many academic and life skills that prepare them well for further studies in middle school and beyond. Some of the things that HFCA 2nd graders explore include:
Analyzing historical/social information in various ways
Creating a representation of math solutions and explaining them to others
Identifying information about a given period/event
Learning the skills (including identifying characters, recognizing organizational patterns, etc.) necessary to share what they are reading
Writing, revising and developing drafts that communicate their ideas or what they have read and learned
In addition to the above, 2nd graders who are Catholic also complete their preparation to recieve the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and Communion within a family catechetical setting. Below is a short video that offers a glimpse into what this special preparation looks like.
